The Council for Disabled Children is part of the National Children’s Bureau family. We are the umbrella body for the disabled children's sector with a membership of over 300 voluntary and community organisations and an active network of practitioners that spans education, health and social care.  As a membership body we provide a collective voice that champions the rights of children, young people and their families and challenges barriers to inclusion. As a collective we believe that the views of disabled children and young people are vital to the development of an inclusive society and that they have the right to be heard and actively participate in decisions that affect them. We believe that every child and young person should enjoy the same rights and opportunities and that every aspect of society should be fully inclusive to disabled children and young people.

Welcome to Watoto Play, an innovative organisation dedicated to improving mental health and wellbeing within the modern family. Our focus is on creating therapeutic educational resources, programs and training that caters especially to neurodivergent families and young people, helping them navigate their unique world and build better bonds with those around them. Our mission is simple: we aim to help individuals live better lives. We believe that by addressing mental health early and providing the right tools and resources, we can empower children and families to thrive in their relationships and daily lives. Watoto Play was founded by Yasmin Shaheen-Zaffar. Yasmin is a relational trauma therapist, Safe and Sound practitioner, and a neurofeedback practitioner. She herself is neurodivergent. Her personal experience coupled with her professional expertise enables her to understand the specific challenges neurodivergent individuals face. This understanding is at the heart of each resource we create, ensuring they resonate with the experiences of those we aim to support. At Watoto Play, we are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those who are often misunderstood or overlooked by traditional approaches. Through our resources, we hope to promote understanding, acceptance, and positive change for especially  neurodivergent young people and the modern family.  Our Brands Include Polyvagal Teen®, Neurosloth® The Hearts Whisper and Scribbledeedo™ www.polyvagalteen.com

CEO, Neurodiversity Training International

Empowering the Neurodivergent Journey Why are there not enough school places for Autistic children, particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Why are waiting lists for diagnostics, along with mental health care for both children and adults so long? How do I understand myself or my Neurodivergent child better? Why does everyone view me or my child so negatively? These questions have been on everyone’s minds for decades. Through our EndeeSphere App we want to answer your questions, shine a bright light on the road ahead, and provide you with the people and resources to ensure you and your child’s potential are fully reached. Within the App, we offer live weekly learning classes, support groups, and provide helpful material for Neurodivergent individuals who might be at home, school, or in the workplace. Our founder, Jude Morrow, who is autistic himself, was inspired to create this organisation after witnessing the challenges faced by families who struggle to find affordable resources and support. The same struggles Jude and his family experienced in the 1990’s are just as prevalent today and as a result, Neurodiversity Training International is Jude’s global vehicle for change.

Rebecca Clapcott

Founder, Awesome Archie non profit

Awesome Archie officially began during the lockdown of 2020. Like most people, being tasked with staying at home, Awesome Archie struggled… as did many other families with children who have neurological differences. We decided to try and help those families… as well as trying to help ourselves.  We managed to write and publish four books, all explaining about neurodiversity.  We have provided hours of tutoring and online art therapy sessions (free of charge) and have been a source of information for parents and carers either in person or online. Anything we don’t know,, we will help you to find out! Awesome Archie (non-profit organisation) has continued to grow from strength to strength and is now what I (Rebecca Clapcott – Founder of Awesome Archie) do, fulltime. Both Awesome Archie and I also travel to several schools across Dorset and Hampshire to provide free educational workshops and in-school support as often as we can and I am currently (voluntarily) providing several children with regular one-to-one support.

Speech and Language Therapist, Speech and Language Link

Hello!  I am a specialist speech and language therapist (MSc Speech and Language Therapy) with 13 years of experience in mainstream (Primary and Secondary), centres and special schools.  I am a huge advocate of helping school staff to feel confident about helping their pupils with SLCN.  As such, I help to run the Facebook group Speech and Language Support for Schools.  For all those who work in schools, we would love to see you in there!  Nursery staff are also welcome! I love working for Speech & Language Link, as it allows me to spread awareness of SLCN and support pupils on a much wider scale.  We create award-winning school-based screening and intervention software packages, used to spot and provide therapy children with SLCN.  I look forward to chatting to you soon!

The Speech & Language Link online tools and training enable schools to identify and support pupils with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). UK schools ran 245,000 of our SLCN assessments last year and implemented our interventions with 65,000 pupils, because fundamental life skills and chances are built on speech and language.  Literacy, social relationships, behaviour and mental health all have speech and language foundations, so our award-winning packages are created and supported by our specialist team of speech and language therapists. All our standardised assessments, evidence-based interventions and staff training are therapist designed, to ensure that no student falls under the radar.  We work with individual establishments, MATs, LAs, Integrated Care Partnerships, NHS services and other specialist teams to support the deployment of our tools and services into schools.
