Hi Everyone
I'm the Transition Support Manager at National Star College in Gloucestershire. I have been working in Education for 20 years, currently in my 10th year at National Star and have worked in the transition team for almost 5 years.
Much has changed over those 5 years and we are currently working in a really challenging landscape with many factors against us supporting our learner families to create positive and meaningful long-term living, occupation, education, work and therapy outcomes.
I am very passionate about my role and finding the best possible options for our leavers - I am a parent of three children, two of whom are neurodiverse and have been through many of the life challenges that our families face. These are difficult times in the Social Care sector and the planned Government Reform will hopefully provide some much-needed solutions. A research project that I recently worked on jointly with the Together Trust outlined the primary target areas for reform and was launched at the House of Commons on 8th January 2025. You can hear more about the report and our students here: What comes after education? | National Star and Together Trust disability report
I look forward to talking to some of you in the future. Happy Half Term! :)
