Introduction to the group
Hello, I am new to this network. My name is Sally Arrey. I am a senior lecture in the school of Human and Health Sciences, Department of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Huddersfield. I lecture nursing students. My specialist background is learning disability nursing. I have a keen interest in the following: supportive and palliative care for people with learning disabilities, Autism and ASD, ADHD, and seeking ways to enhance access to services and the support for young people who have Autism, and ASD, ADHD, their families and carers. What I like most about my job as a senior lecturer, is that it provides me with a platform to empower and equipment students with the appropriate skills and professional values for their careers as future nurses and healthcare professional leaders. It also provides me with the opportunity to work collaboratively with practice partners (nurses, allied health professionals, health and social work colleagues), carers, patients/service users, colleagues in other Higher Educational Institutions, by engaging in research activities. The goal of the research activities is potentially to drive positive changes in support practices, policies/legislations, and guidelines, for people who have learning disabilities, their families and carers, young people who have Autism and ASD, ADHD, their families and carers etc. I am really excited to join SEND network. I hope to build new collaborations and network with other professionals/network members, share ideas by contributing in discussions forums, podcasts, and possibly engage in collaborative research, and keep abreast with SEND relevant new products and services.
