Hi my name is Oliver Dixon, I'm the Programme Leader for Complex Needs at Barnet and Southgate College in North London and in the New Year will also be a Teaching and Learning Champion supporting other teachers and staff-members to develop their practice.   I have worked in the field of SEND for over 20 years as a classroom teacher and for 5 years was also a Curriculum Manager. I will be contributing a regular blog to the SEND Network about working in a SEND department within an FE College, which I'm hoping to turn into a shared effort by asking some of my colleagues to also contribute.  We will describe some of the approaches, strategies and resources we use with our students, as well as outlining the day-to-day ups and downs of working with young adults with learning disabilities in a busy London college. I hope it will make for interesting, informative reading for other professionals employed in this field and also act as a springboard for further discussion and sharing of ideas.
