Introducing myself!
Hello, my name is David Lyall and I am a Secondary School Senco in East London.
I have done this job for 8 years now and whilst it is incredibly rewarding, I can honestly say it is the most demanding job I have ever done and the level of knowledge and expertise required is frightening!
I am particularly interested in SEMH and do some 1-1 work with pupils alongside our psychotherapists in the school as part of our 'Emotional Support Team'.
I like to be visible as a Senco, and I think the most effective way to raise achievement amongst pupils with SENs is to work systemically, getting into departments, into SLT, training and advocating. I have managed, alongside the Teaching and Learning team to introduce mixed ability teaching throughout the school for all subjects at KS3 and 4. I consider this one of my proudest achievements in a long teaching career!
I am an English specialist but currently teach KS3 History which I enjoy.
Great to meet you all!
David
