About Joss Lambert

Hi everyone!

I'm Joss and I work for national charity Ambitious about Autism on our Autistic and OK programme for secondary schools. Autistic and OK is a groundbreaking peer-led programme that aims to support autistic pupils with their mental health and educate the wider school community on autism.

Our programme aims to build a whole-school community where autistic pupils feel understood and accepted. I'm excited to connect with members of the SEND Network and hopefully bring the benefits of Autistic and OK to as many UK secondary schools as possible.

When do you start planning for the next term?

From our experience working with schools on our Autistic and OK programme, we're keenly aware that SENCo capacity is often stretched beyond it's limit. This can impact longer-term planning and implementation of wellbeing interventions for pupils with SEND. We'd be really interested to hear from SENCo's around your planning for the upcoming term. Is there a particular point in the term when you feel less stressed and more able to carry out long-term planning? Do you find it difficult to get time in the classroom because of mounting paperwork? Are there any methods that help you to plan ahead? We'd love to hear from you so please add to the discussion thread below. :)

The programme is designed to empower autistic pupils to take control of their mental health and wellbeing, understand themselves better, and feel OK at school.
